We are delighted to share some wonderful news! Our project “The Wool Ways” was honoured at the “Il Tratturo Magno” International Literary Prize, during the Festival del Tratturo in L’Aquila held on October 25th. We received First Prize in the “Projects” category.

In the morning, a conference was held focusing on the historical, landscape and cultural aspects of the shepherd’s paths, offering a moment of reflection on the roots and future of transhumance: from the promotion of tangible and intangible heritage to the prospects for regeneration linked to these routes.
In the afternoon, live readings of the winning and shortlisted texts — ranging from prose to poetry — brought transhumance and its history vividly to life. In the past, indeed, many shepherds were also poets: gathered round the fire, they would read or recite poems and epic tales to find comfort, keep their minds active and draw strength for the arduous journey.
This festival is precious because it reminds us that words and storytelling are not mere accessories, but an integral part of the local culture, and how they can still inspire new visions and new ways of valuing these ancient practices today.
A sincere thanks to the organizers of the Festival del Tratturo for creating a space for listening, sharing and beauty — and for continuing to spread the stories that unite past, present and future.
